What is ReadyBoost™?

ReadyBoost™ is a component of Microsoft Windows

Vista and Windows 7 that enables you to use a USB

device as extra system memory, which can help to

speed up your computer. Simply connect the USB

drive, choose ‘Speed up my system using Windows

ReadyBoost™’ and then specify how much space

ReadyBoost™ should use. You can choose to allocate

part of a USB drive’s memory to speed up performance

and use the remainder to store ﬁles.

In order to get the best results from ReadyBoost™,

you’ll need between one and three times your system

memory available. For example, if your computer has

512MB of RAM, you’ll beneﬁt most from ReadyBoost™

if you are able to give it between 512MB and 1.5GB of

USB ﬂash memory to play with.
